8 Fun Fall Activities for You and Your Dog

Autumn is a brilliant time to spend quality time with your dog. With the crisp air and the wonderful smells of the season, it's a perfect time to explore the great outdoors. But why go it alone? Your pooch will be excited to join you on some post-summer adventures! Here are 8 fun activities you can do with your dog this fall.

Camping

Camping is fantastic in autumn. The cooler evenings make it the perfect time to snuggle up with your pet.

Whether you're enjoying a comfortable campervan or setting up a tent, make sure your dog is comfortable and safe. A good quality adjustable harness or lead is a must, especially if you are exploring new areas.

If you plan on going somewhere chilly, consider a warm, comfortable coat for your dog! Having the right equipment can make all the difference to a relaxing camping trip.

Or Explore Near New Places

Even if you don't have time for a full road trip, a short drive to somewhere new can be a great way to spend time with your dog. If your pet isn't a fan of car rides, keep it short and sweet – 15-30 minutes is a good starting point.

Head to a new dog park, try a different trail or visit a new pet store. You could even pick up some delicious treats along the way to make the outing even more special. Even a drive around a different neighbourhood can be an exciting adventure for your pup!

Before heading out, remember that basic obedience is important for a safe and enjoyable experience. Keep your dog on a leash and make sure they have a solid recall as well as know commands like "drop it" and "leave it" to avoid them picking up things they shouldn't.

If you're spending any time outdoors, always make sure your dog has access to fresh, clean water and is protected from the sun.

Pumpkin Patch Fun & Cider Mill Delights

There's nothing quite like a trip to the pumpkin patch or a local cider mill to get you in the autumn mood. Many of these places now welcome dogs, so you can bring your pet along for the fun. Your dog will love exploring the outdoors and can even help you choose the perfect pumpkin for carving!

Cider mills often have lots of autumnal activities for you and your dog to enjoy, and delicious treats like cider doughnuts and pancakes for you to tuck into. Always check in advance with the pumpkin patch or cider mill about their dog-friendly policies, so you can make sure everyone has a great time.

The hardest part will be choosing the perfect costume! There are loads of great options available to buy in stores or online, and you can even make your own.

If you're heading out on the spooky rounds, be sure to pack a poop bag holder in a handy carrier. It's always good to be prepared!

And if you're not keen on going door-to-door, there are lots of Halloween events taking place. Why not enter your pet in a dog costume contest? It's a fun way to spend the afternoon and your dog might even make some new friends!
